You've probably heard that Bitcoin mining wastes energy. It's one of the most repeated criticisms in the space.

But what you might not have heard is how Bitcoin mining is making rural mini-grids economically viable.

In Kenya, Malawi, and Zambia, a company called Gridless is using mining revenue to fund electricity access for communities that would otherwise remain entirely off-grid. The panel also covers how miners are compensated by grid operators in Texas for absorbing surplus power, and what changes when mining is classified as energy infrastructure rather than environmental liability.
